As if you didnít have enough to think about living with Diabetes, contracting flu could be fatal.

Having flu can cause blood glucose levels to fluctuate and make the management of diabetes much more difficult. Those that can normally control their sugars can really struggle if hit by the flu virus and in serious cases, it can lead to further complications like pneumonia and bronchitis. Those with diabetes as well as other serious health problems like heart disease or liver disease are at an even greater risk.

The NHS offers free vaccination to all high risk groups including patients with Diabetes. It is best to get yourself vaccinated now, so that you are protected before the flu virus starts to become more prevalent over the winter months.

Contact your local GP to find out when you are able to get your free Flu jab.
