In a recent study which has just been published in the International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, it has been concluded that drinking coffee each day may actually help to reduce your blood glucose level which is obviously great news for diabetics who enjoy coffee!

There have been conflicting studies over the years as to whether drinking coffee could have a detrimental effect on blood glucose levels, thus questioning whether our daily fix is a good idea or not. However, this could be due to the addition of cream or sugar rather than the coffee itself.

In this latest study comparing fasting blood tests of people with diabetes who regularly drink 3-4 cups of filtered coffee daily compared with those that donít drink coffee, 22 percent of the coffee drinker diabetics had lower blood glucose levels than those non coffee drinkers.

The test groups of people that didnít have diabetes, interestingly enough, didnít show such a big difference in blood glucose levels if they drank coffee. It seems drinking coffee helps those with diabetes more than those who donít!
